Abstract

The study maintained an objective approach in analysing the statistical correlation between fake news dissemination and its impact on employment opportunities. A cross-sectional study approach was used, and questionnaires were structured to obtain the data. Representation was ensured by choosing a method of data collection, specifically stratified random sampling. To analyse the data collected in this research, the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to perform inferential and descriptive analysis. The study aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of how vital information decreased the sustainability of white-collar jobs through the systematic analysis of the obtained data.

The findings shed light on how employment was influenced by the spread of fake news and provided suggestions for its prevention. The study was comparative, drawing data from major cities with high levels of online social network usage, such as Lahore, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi, to provide a global context for the findings. This approach helped in using the comparative method to establish common patterns present in different regions as well as specific problems faced by white-collar employees. The results were useful to decision-makers at various levels of government, executives, and managers of social media platforms and companies of all sizes, as well as regular users of social media who shared news, worked in departments impacted by false news, or aimed to prevent the spread of false news.
